A Time For Destruction

Complacency had taken its hold
Like the roots of a tree
Binding it to the ground
It was time for the roots
To burst through the pavement
To destroy what man had set
As an artificial covering
Over all that was natural
Asphalt and concrete
Could only hold out for so long
Against a quiet but steady pressure
That was ready to push through
Until all that was restraining it
Would eventually slip away
Once the process was completed
It would be as if the past
Had never existed
And the future was taken for granted
Until the process
Would need to begin again
