Lust
wells up inside of us
A force that can not be tamed
as we risk health and reputation
to satisfy our carnal desires
Throwing money and time after flesh
The soft animal instinct in her eyes
swaying our resolve
Oblivion of sensation
keeping us in bondage
I am a refugee
between her thighs
The will is gone
my beast has emerged

Pride
Most of us would not admit our scars
we make a point of covering our wounds
There is an image
we want the world to see
Our emotions are kept imprisoned
deep in our hearts
We are at a distance
no one wants to take the first step
to be released from the shackles
I throw away common sense
standing naked before you
Assassinate the fear
move on

Greed
Coming down on us
as an insatiable hunger
It itself will gnaw at our insides
devouring us from within
More more more
is the battle cry
Leading us to heaven and hell
it is never enough
We are possessed
I grab it with both hands
until my skin bleeds
The want is endless
as the sunset illuminates the city

Envy
She is the curse that withers us
the beautiful gem that leads us nowhere
The focus is on another
as we watch ourselves die
Our spirit is diminished
as this poison infects us
This fantasy is out of reach
because it does not exist
it does not live and breathe
I caress the remnants of the illusion
and put it to rest
The dream is gone
until it is found within

Gluttony
To consume without end
the maximum of carnage
The intake that cripples
and subdues
To sicken ourselves
while trying to fill the empty space
that can never be satisfied
The ultimate act of the physical world
to become one with the material
I feel it inside
as it weighs me down
The hunger is alive
even as it destroys

Sloth
The numbing descent into idleness
slowly driving us into a trance
It becomes too much effort
to rise from a prone position
We would rather slide to the ground
and become one with the earth
The energy is gone
as we slowly drift away
embracing the void
I want to let go
rotting in the dirt
Even the dreams slow down
as the abyss widens

Anger
Rising up in our chests
seething in our minds
The cause is inexplicable
frustration is universal
Emotions congealing into ash and dust
leading us down an uncertain path
The control is lost
as we go spinning beyond hope
beyond reason
I felt the rage
bending the light
The madness leads to blindness
and a new kind of horror
