Mary Magdalene

At the feet of Magdalene
Worshipping the woman not the saint
Her smooth skin under my touch
My hand on her silky thigh
Our love is under siege
By the powers that be
Renegades riding through the streets
During a blissful blue sky day
Will it all be lost as a forgotten dream
Languishing as the sun is eclipsed by the sea
The path is uncertain as night approaches
Leading a double life takes its toll
You eye me with cautious anticipation
Trying to second guess our fate
Our circumstance places us against the wall
Staring at each other in quiet epiphany
Our business is a barrier between us
A blockade that is difficult to navigate
To experience intimacy at a strange distance
I feel you upon me but I cannot touch you
Beyond the rules of the game
A farce of shackles I wish to throw off
To show reality for what it is
A moment in time between us
That no one can deny
You painted yourself for me
Awaiting our decadent afternoon
I heard your eager voice
Calling me to you
