Fast Forward To A Kiss

Wondering what it is like to die
to walk that ancient shoreline
wrapped up in mystery
the final illusion

To feel at peace with the unknown
a certain kind of homecoming
an illicit existence
one at odds with the world

Remembering the strange thoughts of youth
a mix of immortality and the inevitable
imbibing on the drunken pastures of hope
reflections on thoughts of self destruction

A decision against death
at a very early age
though to contemplate it then
was bizarre

Fast forward to a kiss
our foreheads touched
she was wearing sunglasses
our tongues entwined like snakes

After the sunset
she sat on my lap
and kissed me
after dinner
